Leo Salgado Chane-Pane

Leo Salgado Chane-Pane joined ICMAB-CSIC and the MAGNEPIC project in November 2021. He studied Chemistry at the University of Santiago (Spain), where he obtained his BSc. in 2020. He is currently an MSc. student at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, specializing in Advanced Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Leo is carrying out his thesis project on current-controlled ferroelectric devices for next-generation nonvolatile data storage.

Teodor Parella Dilmé

Teodor Parella Dilmé joined ICMAB-CSIC and the MAGNEPIC project as a JAE Intro fellow in October 2021. He is a double degree B.Sc. student in physics and chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Teo is currently undertaking his bachelor thesis in physics and his research focuses on ionic control of spin-orbit torques in ferrimagnetic insulators.

Martín Testa Anta

Martín Testa Anta joined ICMAB-CSIC and the MAGNEPIC project as a PhD student in March 2021. He obtained his BSc(Hons) (2015) and MSc (2016) in Chemistry from the University of Vigo (Spain). He subsequently joined the Applied Physics Department at the same university as a predoctoral fellow, where he worked on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanocrystals, with particular emphasis on the phenomena that take place at the surface and interfaces between transition metal oxides. His current research is focused on the spin-torque control of magnetization in ferrimagnetic insulators.

Milena Sulzbach

My name is Milena Sulzbach and I am from Brasil. There, I studied physics and acquired my Bachelor´s and Master´s degree from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Now, I have started my PhD in ICMAB under the supervision of Prof. Fontcuberta in the Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures group. In my free time, I enjoy walking, listen music, reading and travelling to new places with my friends.

Mikko Kataja

Hello everyone! I’m Mikko Kataja and I come from Finland, where I did my PhD in Aalto University on magneto-optically active plasmonic nanoparticles. I am now in ICMAB in Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures research group to explore the possibilities that active oxide materials, such as ferromagnetic and ferroelectric oxides, offer in the field of optics, especially for active nanoscale optical devices. In my freetime, I enjoy cooking and board games.

My name is Ariadna Soro and I’m currently studying a double degree in Physics and Mathematics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Here at ICMAB, I’ll be working on my final degree project (20.11.2017 – 30.06.2018) with the help of the Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures research group. Besides from studying, I also enjoy dancing, skiing and playing the guitar.

Ferran Macià

I am a research scientist with a background in mathematics and telecommunication engineering. My work experience and interests are magnetism and spin-dependence electron transport (spintronics) in mesoscopic systems, magnetic quantum tunneling and coherence in low dimensional magnetism. I am also interested in dynamical systems especially those involving magnetism. I follow an interdisciplinary research approach-contributing mostly with experimental work but also with theoretical and computational studies.
